Brain tumors such as meningioma, schwannoma (including CP angle tumors) and pituitary adenoma are removed with an operating microscope in a modern neurosurgical theatre. Some tumors — for example pituitary tumors and craniopharyngioma — can be removed endoscopically through the nose, without opening the skull.
What to know
- Benign tumors usually have an excellent outcome after surgery
- Not every tumor needs an operation — small tumors without symptoms are often followed with MRI
- Malignant tumors such as glioblastoma also need radiotherapy and chemotherapy after surgery
Please bring your MRI and CT reports to the consultation so the right plan can be made.
