Approximate cost: abroad vs. Bangladesh
- Singapore: around Tk 1–1.5 crore
- Thailand: around Tk 50–60 lakh
- India: around Tk 8–10 lakh
- Large corporate hospitals in Bangladesh: can be Tk 5–6 lakh
- The hospitals where the doctor operates: usually within about Tk 2.5–3.5 lakh

What the cost depends on
The money is not only the surgeon’s fee. The total also depends on:
- Medicines, and how many days you need to stay in hospital
- Whether ICU (intensive care) support is needed
- Whether you stay in a cabin or a general bed, and the type of cabin
- The type of hospital — corporate or otherwise
- How long and how risky the operation is, and how large a surgical team it needs
